The Morgan House

photo of the Morgan HouseWalk through these doors of the past and into this perfect reflection of upper middle class Victorian living.

With its wide variety of splendid woodwork in its original condition, its six fireplaces, gas light fixtures and original Anaglypta and Lincrusta wall coverings, it is a fine example of the kind of home built by the most prosperous Oshkosh lumber barons in the late 19th century.

Located at 234 Church Avenue in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, this Queen Anne style home was built in 1884 for John Rodgers Morgan, a founder of Oshkosh lumber company Morgan Brothers. Designed by local architects Adam Bell and Edwin Cole, the house has gable and hip roofs, a triangular dormer, a polygonal tower, a patterned masonry chimney and a front porch with stickwork frieze and balustrade.
